Inspiration
Seamen and farmers understand each other well. Both in direct contact with nature and subject to its impetuosity, they know how to remain humble and show resilience. Their life and their work are built on the long term, in rhythm with the seasons and the elements. It is also as a crew or as a family that they cultivate our lands and brave our waters, to bring forth and harvest the products that will fill our plates and stimulate our taste buds.
A few weeks ago, two generations took the time to talk. One experienced and clear-sighted about our present and its imperfections. The other, projected towards the future and already committed to making it more desirable.
Observation
French producers have always faced major challenges, and increasingly so. Directly affected by climate change and the extreme phenomena it generates, the drying up of soils and the loss of biodiversity, they must now, more than ever, reinvent themselves. However, the geographical, cultural and social distance between producers and consumers delays the collective awareness of the efforts made. This disconnection also leads to a disembodiment of agricultural work: the human being and the values associated with him count for little when making a purchase.
That's why at Jybe we want to reaffirm the values of agricultural work:

The collaboration that we will engage with the Domaine Tariquet will lead us to illustrate them.
Challenges
Les premiers mois de notre expédition atypique vont nous amener à découvrir les Antilles et l’Amérique Centrale. Dans ces lieux, nous irons à la rencontre d’acteurs engagés pour une agriculture et une alimentation compatible avec les limites planétaires. Nous étudierons leurs réponses face au changement climatique et à ses conséquences : émission carbone, gestion de l’eau, biodiversité, prix… Les pratiques mises en place sur le terrain seront certainement une source d’inspiration intéressante en France. C’est pourquoi notre travail restera 100% open-source pour bénéficier au plus grand nombre.
